British travel entrepreneur Thomas Cook who founded Thomas Cook travel agents died on this day in 1892. Started from humble beginnings Thomas Cook was originally a preacher before he settled upon the travel industry after arranging excursions for temperance campaigners from Leicester to a rally in Loughborough.
