April 2024 Virtual Crop class with Karen

Hello everyone and welcome to my April class using one of my favourite manufacturers, Simple Stories. 

This class kit was packed with goodies and even having made three pages there is a lot left over to play with.

April Virtual Crop Class with Ann

My class today features a wedding themed layout (though the kit allows you to go for a more generic general love theme if preferred) where I added a little flicked paint to the white cardstock background to break up what would otherwise be quite a basic, graphic page but this is entirely optional.

I also made a mini book to house all the lovely retreat photos I would have from our weekend away and to make the most of the beautiful Ephemera pack pieces in the kit.

April Virtual Crop - Class 3 with Mel

Welcome to the last class of todays virtual crop.

For this class I created two layouts using the lovely "On Trend 2" papers from My Minds Eye. The photos do not show the foiling very well but in real life the gold accents add a bit of sparkle and shine to the pages.

April Virtual Crop - Class 2 with Katherine

Hello, I hope you are enjoying the crop so far - I created 3 pages with the We Are Family collection from Simple Stories, and concentrated on using all the cut apart sheets for embellishments - and also the larger cut apart pieces that can sometimes be a little harder to use in a page. 

We also make some accordion/fan fold flowers.

My final pages is full of paper and all the little elements that you get in the kit.

April Virtual Crop - Class 1 With Karen

Happy Easter to all you Virtual Croppers.

Today I have two very Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy layouts made with the very pretty Painted Portrait range from Webster's Pages.

I have used a 7 x 5 portrait photo on both my layouts but to be honest any size or orientation of photo should work on these layouts.

The first needs a little bit of 'wiggly line' drawing

and the second is needs just a little straight forward measuring and cutting.

I hope you enjoy making these layouts and even if you weren't lucky enough to get one of the kits you are still welcome to play along, using different papers.  Please post on your layouts on our Facebook page.

April Virtual Crop - Inspired by Challenge

Hello ATDML scrapbookers and welcome to another virtual crop challenge. This challenge runs until midnight on the last day of April (30th) and there is a £5 ATDML gift voucher up for grabs for the favourite page chosen by the design team so why not join in and share your page with us? 

What are the rules? Well it's simple, just create a scrapbook page inspired by the image above. Will you feature ovals or circles or four of another shape? stick with the colourway or scrap your furry friends?  It is up to you, let your imagination run wild!

I created the page below inspired by the image. My layout started with four circles in the middle of my page drawn around a cup several times. Each time shifting the cup slightly to overlap the previous and not give perfect circles.  I then added splats of distress stains which, when spritzed with a little water I used to paint with and add colour around the circles.  I then stamped some circles in black and added some stars cut from patterned paper.  My four photos (2"x3") were mounted on black card before adding one to each circle. To further tie in with the inspired by image I added some chevron doodles around the circles.  I then added a stamped title and my embellishments and it was a great opportunity to use up some enamel dots I had left in my stash. My page had shifted to no longer being central as I had intended it, so to balance the elements falling towards the bottom of the page I added a strip of black card to the top of the layout and a strip of twine along the bottom.

April Virtual Crop - Class 3 by Mel Hand

Last class of the day coming up ladies. I worked with the lovely Echo Park "The Story of our Family" for this (yes the collection that started the "Ann measures in owls" story!)

I love the bright colours in this collection and as always I have used inking on my layouts. If you don't usually do this I urge you to give it a try and a little black inking really makes those colours POP!

April Virtual Crop Class 2 with Ann

Happy Saturday crafty ones, here is the link to my virtual crop class today which features no less than three layouts all with slightly unusual photo sizes.

Don't be hung up on the exact sizes of the photos described, moreover think of changing up your photo sizes to alter the look of your pages and bring variety to your albums. If you don't have a 5x5 photo, don't fret. Simple trim down a 6x4 photo to a 4x4 square and mount onto a piece of 5x5 card before using on your page. Of course you can stick with the overall layout design and your own choice of photo size, it's entirely up to you. The class is there to inspire not insist!

If you have photo editing packages or apps on your phone you can play about with making a collage to place several images onto a 6x4 sheet, then save this is a single file and print as you would a normal 6x4 photo. I used this on my karate layout below where 6 square photos were added to a 6x4 format and then, once printed, trimmed into individual squares.  

On my Me and Mine (tag) page I printed created a collage of 3 landscape photos onto a 4x6 format which you can then print off and trim into three separate smaller images to use on your page.

Have a play! For those of you with the kit enjoy the gold (especially those Thickers!) and have fun with the different photo sizes. Your next class is up at 2pm, enjoy!

April Virtual Crop Class 1 with Karen

Hello, hello lovely virtual croppers.  I hope you have set aside lots of time this weekend for our classes!  We enjoy seeing what you do with the kits and designs as much as we enjoy designing and making our projects.

My class uses the utterly gorgeous Marian Smith Designs Junque Gypsy to make two pages.

The first is called Fabulous and is quite girlie with lots of fussy cut butterflies.

The second - Remember is more masculine but as you see I used black and white photos of my brother and me when we were children.

April Virtual Crop Class 1 by Karen

Well hello ladies and welcome to the April virtual crop.

I am up first today with three layouts made using Bo Bunny Prairie Chic.  For my first layout I wanted to challenge myself to make a boy page from what is predominantly a girl based paper range.

For the second page I used the gorgeous trinkets as centers for some flowers.

 

For the third layout I used as much of the remaining kit as possible to make a very layered page.
