August 2023 Virtual Crop Class with Debs

 Happy Scrappy Sunday to you all and welcome to the second class of the day 

I've designed these pages using papers, rub-ons and frames from this beautiful, jam packed Simple Vintage Life in Bloom kit. These papers and rub-ons in this collection lend themselves beautifully to creating layered clusters on our layouts.  I made three layouts using this class kit and there's still plenty to spare to make cards and gift tags.

Cluedo Cybercrop Class 9 Colonel Mustard behind the Beauty Backdrop with the Needle

 

Wadsworth, am I right in thinking there’s nobody else in this house?

Oh you're here too … hello there - ahem - good to see you although if one has a suspicious disposition one might wonder what you're doing wandering around at this time of the night? It seems you have found me behind the beauty backdrop adding a few finishing touches to my creations with one of my favourite tools - the needle!  The journaling phrases on the Heidi Swapp stickers were perfect to record daily Face time catch-ups with my daughter who lives away from home and the gorgeous floral papers from Webster's pages were perfect for adding a girly touch to the page.

Cluedo Cybercrop Class 3 Colonel Mustard in the Printing Room with the Scissors

 

Well hello all,   I wonder how many challenges you have conquered this evening? Whatever the figure I do hope you have been having a marvelous time so far and paper cuts, scissors snips or split glue incidents have been few and far between. As I said to Mrs Peacock, this is war .. ahem ... scrapping. Casualties are inevitable. You can not make an omelet without breaking eggs, every cook will tell you that.

As for this class, we will be sharpening up our scissors or craft knives and using these fabulous Vicki Boutin Printshop papers to showcase our photographs and preserve our memories.

Class 10 Some Kind of Wonderful with Debs

Hello and welcome to your first class of the day.  I hope you have all had a wonderful  weekend so far, a good nights rest last night and are raring to go this morning.

In this class we will be using the utterly gorgeous products from Jen Hadfield’s “Live and Let Grow’ range to create pages that use a patterned paper background but don’t detract from showcasing your photo. (There may be a little fussy cutting of all the wonderful elements on these papers but some of the work has been done for you in the pack of die-cut elements).

Class 3 - Big Girls Don't Cry with Debs

Hello All,

Sending a warm South African welcome to the ‘Big Girls don’t Cry’ class where we will explore using large photographs on a page.

This class allows for super quick and easy pages using the gorgeous Simple stories Simple Vintage Indigo Garden range. I have been using large prints on layouts for many years and love that they are a convenient way to complete a layout quickly because the photograph covers so much of the space.  Large prints also allow us to add a title, embellishments and journaling ono the photograph without losing or covering any important details on the photo.

August Cyber Crop Class with Debs

Hello and welcome to the last class of this  weekend's cyber crop. 

By now you are probably ready to sit down with your feet up and a cuppa.  

Well, these layouts are perfect for doing just that as they are super simple to put together  and the only skills required are to be handy with the scissors! 

The bold colours and fantastically patterned papers do all the work in creating pages to showcase your photographs.

Hello weary travellers, you've arrived at your final class of the weekend, hope your flight was smooth and  your visit to New York a good one! Only a few more challenge stops to go, on your epic around the World scrapping journey, before you can sit back and page through all the memories you’ve recorded this weekend.

Class 7 with Debs

Good Afternoon and welcome to the last class of the weekend using the gorgeous papers from the Dear Lizzy She's Magic collection.  The layouts from this class require no hugely complicated technique to complete,  they are quick and easy to do with a little fussy cutting and a whole lot of layering.  A great way to wind down after a busy weekend scrapping.

Class 3 with Debs

Afternoon All, 

Hope you've had a wonderfully, scrappy Sunday so far.

The fabulous Pink Paislee 'Whimsical'  paper range lends itself to creating simple but striking layouts which is what we will be doing in this class. Nothing too demanding or challenging for a gentle afternoon of scrapping.

Class 13 - Bullseye

"Jessie loves critters, but none more than her best pal, Bullseye!" —Andy

And honestly who couldn’t love Bullseye, the affectionate horse with the puppy like mannerisms. He may not speak but his expressions and mannerisms say it all.

This class’ inspiration is Bullseye’s name, bullseye meaning the centre of a target. We will use patterned papers from the Crate Good Vibes collection to create layouts with a focus point on the page or on the embellishments.

Class 8 - Woody

"Yee-haw! Giddy-up partner! We've got to get this wagon train scrappin’ a-movin'!" [Woody Toy Story 2]

Sheriff Woody Pride (also known as Sheriff Woody; usually addressed as Woody) is one of the main characters of the Toy Story films.  He is an old-fashioned, floppy, pull-string cowboy doll with an 'original hand painted face'. The voice-box that is activated by the pull-string says many simple phrases such as "Reach for the sky!", "You're my favourite deputy!", "There's a snake in my boot!", and "Somebody's poisoned the waterhole!". Woody was once Andy’s favourite toy until Andy grew up and gave him to a little girl named Bonnie. He was the leader of Andy's toys and later Bonnie's toys and the hero of the Toy Story films. In each film, Woody leaves Andy/Bonnie's room (where he and the other toys live) and ventures out into the world on an unexpected adventure.

 

This class takes its inspiration from Woody’s name and hand painted face by making use of the woodgrain paper and die cut, and the painty paper and die cut shapes from Kaisercraft’s Havana Nights Collection.

Class 1 - Friend in Me

Hello and welcome to this, the first class of ATDML's 2019 Summer cyber crop, inspired by the much loved characters and story lines from TOY STORY.

You’ve got a friend in me is the soundtrack of the films and the perfect Toy Story prompt to start the weekend. It is played during the opening credits for Toy Story, Toy Story 3, and Toy Story 4, establishing the importance of Woody and Andy in the first film and the importance of all his toys in the third and fourth. At the end of Toy Story 2, Wheezy starts to sing it to the other toys.  

The layouts for this class, as in the films, are all about recognising friendships and relationships, in whatever form they take.  As with the lessons we learn from Toy Story some friendships are for a season only, some forever and some friends don't see each other for years and years but when they do it's like they've never been apart.

May Virtual Crop Class 3 with Debs

Welcome to this Sunday's afternoon class using the Bloom and Grow range from Simple Story.

Since we are all likely to be feeling full and relaxed after a Sunday roast I thought I'd keep this class pages simple.  So if you fancy a little gentle hand cutting and arranging fantastically coordinated  papers from this range then play along. No complicated techniques to master this afternoon.

Debs’ Random Ramblings: instalment 1

(I was going to title this post “Getting organised with Debs” but even I can spot the irony in that statement!) I am far too forgetful to be trusted with a regular challenge or inspiration station as my contribution to the blog so ... make yourself a cuppa as my random ramblings is what you can look forward to each month 🥴

I am a very slow scrapper ... at the ATDML retreats I’m still titivating over layout numero uno while ‘Janet’ is proudly adding her finishing touches to layout number four hundred and seventy two. Having said that, I don’t mind being slow as I really enjoy the process of creating pages but it’s not necessarily the creative process that slows me down. No, it’s the trying to find the right elements/papers/alphabets to pull together the layout I picture in my head. This is why I love the ATDML classes at the retreats, everything I need is put together in a bag and handed to me. Clue number one: THE BAG. Our dear friend Ann is really good at doing this, preparing for retreats and crops by popping co-ordinating papers/bits/alphas/etc into a bag ready to use. So, inspired by Ann I spent a day putting together kits of papers and ephemera to use at the retreat. 

I selected a handful of photos as my starting point then chucked in papers and ephemera that complimented the photo. I went with colours or patterns that co-ordinated with the photo rather than themes. {in the layout below I used scraps of paper and bits from the Echo park “I’d rather be crafting” range, amongst other odds and ends, to scrap a photo of my daughter Emily’s 12th Birthday lunch}. 

And taking the time to be prepared really paid off. I spent more  time enjoying the scrapping and less time looking for bits to use. I now do this not only for retreats and crops but to have kits to hand for whenever  I fancy scrapping. It is a great way to use up those left over elements from collections you can’t bring to throw away but have the potential to sit in your ‘scraps’ box for forever and a day. The bonus is if you’re scrapping more and using up what you’ve got ... you can restock your scrapbooking supplies from ATDML with loads more fabulousness for your page kits. I think that’s what some may call a ‘win win’ situation.

January 2019 Virtual crop class 3 with Debs

Brrrrrr ... anyone else feel the chill today? This afternoon's class features papers from the Simple Stories Winter Wonderland collection.  I love that they have used colours usually associated with Autumn to celebrated snowy Winter days when creating this collection.

In this class we will be using elements from patterned papers as focus clusters around your photographs on your layouts.

Scraplift Santa - Recording the Evidence with Debs

This season is my most favourite of all simply because I love the joy and excitement Christmas brings with it.The flip side is that it is such a busy time of year for a lot of us. And that brings me to this morning scraplift inspiration ... a few pages from my Christmas journal.

I love  that a journal allows us to plan and prepare pages in advance so that we can jot down notes and keep photos of all the moments of the season as we go along. I tend to set my journal with themed pages that feature every year:- What’s on my front door, advent calendars, Christmas wish lists from my girls, Christmas party with work colleagues, music playlists, decorating the tree, samples of this years wrapping paper and/or cards,envelope for receipts  and so on. I then leave pages to add the extras like tickets to pantomime or movies or shows, visits from friends, secret Santa gifts, BIG news this December, etc.
