Ingredients Challenge Winner

The voting has now closed on the Ingredients challenge, thanks to both ladies who took part this month. The winner was anna Parker with "Just Because." Congratulations Anna, a shopping voucher is on its way to you.

Ingredients Challenge For June

We have just two ladies taking part this month for the ingredients challenge but what a lovely pair of layouts we have!

Wendy Bukowski and Anna Parker both received kits with the muted greens and blues of My Minds Eye Life Stories collection plus some cardstock and some co-ordinating bits and I think this months challenge really epitomises the idea behind it. The layouts are totally different and I hope you have fun looking at them. The poll will go up to see which of our challengers gets the £10 shopping voucher.

May Ingredients Challenge

This months ingredients challenge is here again. First of all let's meet the three ladies taking part:

Jackie Ashton:

Hi, I'm Jackie, married with one son, (12) and living in Birmingham. I have always been interested in crafting of some sort, but found over the past few years that I LOVE scrapbooking. I love to add details to my layouts buttons, hand stitching and distressing and inking. I have made loads of lovely friends and love going to crops and retreats to not only gain the extra insight into new techniques but to spend quality time with like minded people. My new technique I want to learn is to crochet and knit. The kit was lovely to work with but the papers were not normally the colours I would use so it was a challenge, but a worthwhile one.

Tina Thomas:

I'm Tina (aka tinasue) I've been scrapbooking since 2005, I started just to do a Prom book for my eldest Daughter and I still havn't done one! I love that scrapbooking has enabled me to combine my favourite two hobbies, photography and playing with pretty paper. The papers included in this challenge were great to work with and the weight was just brilliant for cutting on my Cricut.

Fabiana Dixon:

I am Fabiana (Fab to my friends). I have been scrapbooking for about 3 years, having started as a card-maker. I share my life with my two teen boys, who indulge my endless scrapping. I work full time in a Project/Finance role, and love crafting to both relax and challenge my creativity. I love experimenting, and like nothing better than playing with a new paper range, some sparkle, and a little ink of course! I really love the journey from the raw products to a completed project, and beyond, to the faces of the people its intended for!! I think thats my favourite moment! I recently got my own scrap room, and thats just glorious, a real creative capsule for me. Everything is now readily to hand and thats already freeing my flow of work so that I am just creating rather than wondering where to find things!

Challenge Winners

The Ingredients Challenge this month was won by Vicki Canning with her Sand layout. All three entries were lovely and we wanted to thank all the ladies for taking part :) Vicki I will be emailing you your voucher today so keep an eye on your inbox.

The Learning Challenge has also finished and our winner is actually one of our Ingredients participants this month. Lynn Robertson sent in this layout which I love because it captures something I vividly remember. That moment when you have finished your exams, left school and you stare at the most enormous pile of handouts, notes and accumulated paper relating to your course and it is time to get rid of all your hard work! I had friends who had a bonfire with theirs, I was more restrained and kept a few bits and recycled the rest!

Lynn you need to keep an eye out for the postie as there will be some class kits with instructions coming out to you from our recent retreat. Hope you enjoy them :)

In Search Of Scrappers...

So with Karen AKA Scrapdolly on a break here we are, the complete current ATDML Design Team. Of course being one member down means that some more guest spots opened up for the next few months. We have filled some of these already and I will be going through the emails from last time of people who offered their services when I had already filled the spots so if that was you keep an eye on your inbox! New applicants can also email me (at the address below) with Guest DT in the title. It helps if you can link me to your online gallery or blog.

On the same lines we are looking for more scrappers to take part in our Ingredients challenge. Over the past few months we have had several sets of intrepid scrappers who agree to take possession of a page kit (all identical) and work with just the kit and a small list of allowed additions, to create their master piece. A poll then selects a winner for a shopping voucher.

Ingredients Challenge for April

Here, a little later than usual, we have this months Ingredients challenge. Our three scrappers taking the challenge this month were Jude Hutchinson, Vicki Canning and Lynn Robertson.


Hi, I'm Jude, an obsessive scrapbooker who lives in London with husband (very tolerant) and 2 kids aged 12 and 5 (very patient recipients of many many photos). I've been scrapbooking for about 5 years and if I don't partake in something scrapbooky at least once a day, I feel a severe deficit! It is my creative outlet and I find it very relaxing and fun. I work in mainly 12x12" format and produce mostly clean and uncomplicated layouts where the photos are the main focal point. I love pretty papers and HATE messy things, in particular detest glitter with a vengeance. I love scrapbooking not just for the completed pages but also the process that goes into it, and also the social side of things. I have made wonderful friends from this hobby, friendships which have developed way beyond the scrapbooking. I have many other hobbies and am NEVER bored. My mum used to say to me when I was young, "only boring people get bored!" and I concur with that. Life is so exciting and there are so many things for me to learn and experience. I also enjoy taking part in the odd scrapbooking competition and challenge.



I'm 27 and I live in Scotland with my partner and our 18 cats. I have been scrapping for 5 years and am currently on the Design Team for Scrap Tiffany. I have been published in various scrapbooking magazines and I recently taught a class at my local scrapbooking crop!!!! Apart from Scrapbooking I also enjoy reading, writing to my penpals and spending time with my nephews. I really enjoyed working on this challenge, and I cannot wait to see what everyone else does with the ingredients.


I live near Edinburgh & am a student. In September I will begin studying Product Design at university. I have always enjoyed being creative from a young age and started scrapbooking in 2003. It's my favourite way to relax and get my thoughts written down. I enjoy scrapbooking holidays & events, but my favourite types of pages to create are the ones about relationships and little, everyday things. I enjoy stitching on my layouts and rarely complete a page without using my sewing machine. Creating my Ostende & Bruges layouts was a real challenge for me as the colours & patterns weren't what I'd usually select myself but I really enjoyed working with the products and trying something different.

**EDIT** Because it was a double layout Lynns Ostende & Bruges photo wasn't displaying correctly. I have now uploaded it as two singles so you can hopefully see them better :)

Winners For March...

The winner of the poll for our ingredients challenge this month was Julia Short. Congratulations Julia, you win a shopping voucher for £10 to spend at ATDML. Thanks again to all the ladies who took part, they were all lovely entries.

The February Challenge was to "Mix It Up" and we asked you to send us layouts where you had used 3 or more different paper manufacturers together on one page

As always we loved some of the entries we were sent. The winner was hard to choose but in the end we loved the soft colours in Sue Jones' layout "Yummy" and the combination between the clean simple lines with the more intricate embellishments she has constructed, you also have to admire the patience that went into hand cutting around the lacey edge of the patterned paper.

Congratulations to Sue who wins a £25 shopping voucher. Thanks as always to those who sent in their entries for the challenge, there were lots of lovely entries and you can expect to see a few more of them appearing on the blog in the next few days.

Ingredients Challenge - March

This month these three ladies stepped up to take the Ingredients challenge, here's a little introduction to this months scrappers:

KATY FOX: I live in the Midlands with a very patient other half and a derranged puppy dog; the latter you can see in my challenge layout. My pooch is the most common subject of my scrapbook pages, although I also love recording my holiday memories and am quite partial to a minibook too. I've been crafting for as long as I can remember and scrapbooking for about five years now. I work full time so scrapping is my way to relax and have some "me" time. My favourite technique is stamping so I was delighted when stamps were on the allowed list for this challenge. I loved the kit we were sent to work with and had fun with it.

ELAINE LOUGHLIN: I am a 38 year old hotel manager. I have been crafting for as long as I can remember; card making etc.. I discovered scrapbooking in 2005 and have never looked back since. I adore scrapbooking and card making as well as any other creative activity I can get my inky fingers upon. the advantage of scrapbooking is it combines my love of photography with paper. I am fortunate enough to have taught scrapbooking and card making to beginners in both the UK and Spain and nothing brings a smile more to my face than seeing another absorbed in their creativity.

JULIA SHORT: Hi I'm Julia, I'm 66 years old and live in West Wales with hubby Andy and our little Jack Russell dog Basil. I have a son and a daughter and four wonderful grandchildren. I have been crafting for as long as I can remember and have tackled most things along the way; dressmaking, knitting, cross stitch and jewellery making to name but a few. I started scrapbooking in 2005 after many years of card making and vowing never to get into scrapping, it wasn't for me... so much for that! Most of my spare time is taken up with scrapbooking, that's when I am not out walking with my dog. Thanks for letting me take part in this challenge.

So now we have met our scrappers let's take a look at their layouts:

Who can resist that gorgeous puppy face peeping through the photo on Katys layout. She made great use of her beloved stamps to add extra interest and elements to the page. Although the kit didn't include any alphabets Katys use of stamped images on white means she has given the illusion of using more product than she has.

Elaines photo worked perfectly with the colours of this kit and we loved how she also selected a photo that worked so well with the jotters included in the kit. We also liked the combination of the bold white vertical stripes and the smaller horizontal green stripes.

Julia has really pulled off the white space on this layout, we loved the cluster of embellishments in the bottom corner and that tiny triangle of orange in the top right hand corner just defining the corner of the layout.

Ingredients Challenge Number 1 - February

Remember the ingredients challenge I posted about last month? Well here is the first instalment of this challenge. We are going to run a poll for the next week to see which layout you like the best and the person with the most votes on February 20th at 8pm will be receiving the a shopping voucher for ATDML.

These three ladies received an identical kit and produced very different layouts - just like my Pancakes & yorkshire Puddings analogy HERE!

Ally Bright: I am a 36yrs old full time civil servant along with being divorced mum to 3 aged 9 and 6 (twins). In my spare time i love Photography, scrapping, altered art and art journalling, travelling and geocaching. I have been scrapping almost 6yrs now and recently fallen in love with art journalling. Thanks for letting me play with the ingredients xxx

Julie Kirk: "I've been making 'scrapbooks' ever since I could cut out wonkily with scissors and throw glue around ... both which I still do today! But as far as scrapping as we know it goes, that's only really been for the last 4 years. Now I spend most [if not all] of my spare time creating and blogging design team work and projects for my own blogs. I can't really remember what I used to do with my free time before I discovered the joy of collecting paper and recording my story".

Kirsty Riach: When I am not scrapping, I am a 24 year old Primary Teacher at a large school in the north of Scotland. I started scrapping in 2009 to capture all the moments during my first year of teaching and in the end the scrapbook I created helped me land a permanent job! Naturally from then on in I was hooked and my bank balance has taken a blow from my love of scrapping (good thing I got that permanent job!). As scrapbooking is still fairly new to me, I feel that my own style is just starting to take off and no doubt the new CHA releases will also help!

The ingredients were:

Here are the layouts they produced.

Ally:

We loved: the angle Ally placed her photo and the cluster of embellishments in the lower right hand corner of the photo which are very eye catching.

Julie:

We loved: Julie's use of negative (empty) space at the top of the layout to draw your eyes down and focus on the photos and journaling.

Kirsty:

We loved: Kirsty's use of repetition with the punched shapes, the butterflies overlapping the scalloped circles to add variety and the bracket highlighting the photo.
