Resurrecting an old challenge idea for you lovely blog readers out there... welcome back to a Scraplift Saturday! We will be creating a blog post every other Saturday with a layout by one of the design team to use as a scraplift inspiration for your next project - perfect for crop days or a weekend where some crafting time is on the agenda.
“Scraplifting” is a term that refers to copying/borrowing (or taking direct inspiration from) the idea behind a layout or design and using it or modifying it for your own layout. This week we are hoping to inspire to create your next page by drawing inspiration from this layout by yours truly.
You can replace a photo with a journalling spot or section of patterned paper, rotate the page for landscape photos, incorporate banners onto a layout - the choice is yours. Papers used on the layout above are by 7Gypsies from their Postale range.
Leave a comment to this post with a link to your scraplifted layouts and lets see how many different variations we can get!
Happy Saturday lovely people!!

Time for a Change
Hi there - Karen here with a quick little post on how I changed some of the papers and elements for this months gallery.
Firstly, for my Jubilee Cupcakes layout,
I cut all the cups and saucers from the Graphic 45 Kraft Reflections - Tea for Two and layerd them onto my page .
I felt it needed more more colour and so took inspiration from the Union flag and coloured the cups and saucers blue and red with water colour pencils.
I found that the paper took the colour really well and I was able to blend the colours out with a water brush.
For the Beach Baby page
I only had black letters in the size I wanted to use
and these looked too stark against the muted colours of the page. I stamped them with white ink
and a text stamp similar to these ones
and this had the effect of toning down the black and making them blend in with the feel of the page more.
So there you have it - don't always settle for what the manufacturers give you, mix it up a bit to make it your own!

Trends on Tuesday - Going Airmail
Over recent months I have seen lots of airmail stripes and postal connections in papers, washi tape or just using old stamps on pages. Seven Gypsies have a lovely vintage postal range which has a whole sheet of airmail stripes so I had to have a go and incorporate them in my page. I just used small amounts of the stripes - in my tabs at the top and bottom of the page and my bunting - I cut a strip of paper about 1.5 cm across and then just cut it little triangles into it. I then wrapped the top of the bunting flag around some garden twine and stapled it in place.
The airmail stripe is also perfect for scrapping summer holiday pages and October Afternoon have a lovely airmail stripe in their Boarding Pass range here and some lovely postal franc stamps from Bo Bunny here.

Home Alone

Well, not completely alone but Mel, Darren and the girls have all gone away for the first few days of half term, with a visit to Legoland and a picnic in Windsor Great Park planned. I hope the weather stays fine for them. Meanwhile, Helen (my sister) and her daughter Elizabeth have arrived and we will be very busy stocktaking. The shop will remain open, which does make it a little bit trickier but we will cope! I must also get the new 7 Gypsies products on the website which arrived at the end of last week. Above are a quick peek at a couple of the new products, I am pretty hopeless with technology and can never put images where I want them to go. The patterned paper is Delos from the new Mykonos range and the stickers are Cruising - I shall have to count them carefully as Mel has had a number of cruising holidays.

Gypsy at heart

I love 7 Gypsies and today the first of their two new collections, Lille has been uploaded to the website along with a couple of other bits and pieces. I think it must be the mix of their unique style and the quirky little extras that they always manage to come up with.
I was talking to a friend (another 7 Gypsies fan) when they released the new catalogue and told her they were re-introducing tissue paper 'Oh good' she said, 'that means I can use the tissue I have now' That got me thinking, because I hoard product which is no longer available too. I still have some of their Whimsy range (small metal embellishments, arrows, crowns, frames etc). So, own up, does anyone else hang onto papers or embellishments just because you can't get them again?
