April's Scraplift Challenge with Karen

Hello, hello lovely scraplifters!  Welcome to the April Scraplift Challenge (even though it is the last day of March).

This month I am scraplifting Katherine's page called 'Remember'.

I really liked the stamping on this layout but as everyone knows I am not a proficient stamper - it often leads to a total meltdown when it inevitably goes wrong!  Therefore, I used text paper rather than stamping text and drew butterflies using my Silhouette and a white pen.

I cut and matted two shapes from two different papers as I didn't have any large die cuts to use.  I added a decorative strip at the top and bottom of my photo, in addition to three tags, also at the top of my photo.

Finally, Katherine has used a ready made foam title so I used my Silhouette to make a script title in black too.

As always, I am really excited to see what you come up with this month.

Remember with BoBunny Aryia's Garden

I wanted to share a page that I made using some of the larger Noteworthy pieces from the BoBunny collection Aryia's Garden.  I only mounted my photo on one of the co-ordinating patterned papers from the collection - the rest is just elements from the Noteworthy pack, a bit of stamping and a AC Thickers title.

I chose the 2 largest tags and then when I knew how much of the cardstock they were going to cover I started stamping with a text stamp (also BoBunny's) in white ink.  I then started to arrange my embellishments.  I layered up some of the large roses on foam pads and tucked some lace behind them.  I also used some gems to add a little more sparkle and the final steps were the title and also a little more stamp using BoBunny's new butterfly stamps.

It's a really quick and easy page to put together, and all the cutting out has been done for you.

Mixing it up - Project Life Plus

Hello, hello lovely ATDMLers.  Today I am bringing you a 'Project Life Plus' blog post which features the class I taught at my crop this month.

I sometimes have lots of photos from one event and one or two of the photos are really special, in fact too special to be lost among the other bits on a project life page.  They are so special they deserve a page of their own.  When this happens I make a 12 x 12 page with the special photo on

and a project life page with accompanying photos.

Sometimes, I have enough photos to extend my theme across two 12 x 12 pages

and two sides of a project life page.

Although, this time I used a photograph from a different family walk on the final page of the set.

Hope this gives you ideas on how you can mix and match 12 x 12 pages with project life ones.

Good morning everyone and welcome to this weekends Virtual Crop, I hope you've checked out last nights challenge - post your creations in our Facebook group ATDML#Create, and come and join the chatter.

For this class we will make 3 pages using Craft Market by Crate Paper.  There is a little bit of playing with paint and distress ink, but you can adjust the pages depending on how messy you want to get.

For the 2nd page we do some weaving with acetate and stamping with the rubber end of a pencil.

Finally a page inspired by the super scrapper Nicole Nowosad you can check it out here.  It's a great way to use up border strips or any thin strips of paper that you might have.

I hope you enjoy the pages, check back here at midday for Ann's class.

Jane's 'Saturday' video - pockets and pop-ups part 2

Ok - I know I'm posting on a Sunday, but I got drafted into hockey duty yesterday so I was away from my computer.
Today I am presenting part 2 of my pockets and pop-ups series and I have another pocket and a pop-up - both super easy.
Today's video also gives you a look at the whole book including a sneak preview of the two pop-ups I'll be featuring in part 3 (which will be in May).

I hope you find my video useful and that inspires you to have a go at pop-ups - please let me know if you have any requests for future videos.

Vietnam

I am a traveller - there is a big old world out there and I'm determined to cross every destination off my (ever growing) list.  Last year I was lucky enough to cross Vietnam off my list - it was a stunningly beautiful country with so much to offer and the food - Oh the food!!

One of my must dos when we were there was to take part in a cooking class and Hoi An was the perfect stop in the trip to do this.  Before we started cooking we were taken to the local market and were taught how to recognise and buy the raw ingredients - I was in my element.  So when I saw the colour and designs of The Kaisercraft Hanami range of papers I knew exactly what photos to use.

I used some embellishments from the 'I AM' sheet from simple stories - the globe is so cute! I then added in some of these wooden elements which are perfect for travel pages.  As the Vietnam flag is a yellow star on a red background I wanted to add that in as a little nod to the flag.

On the last few days of the trip we flew across to a small island just off the mainland called Phu Quoc.  We hired a moped and took of to a recommended beach on the island.  As we travelled the island it was incredible to see such an amazing place so untouched by tourism.  Local towns with unfinished roads and endless views of natural beauty.  After a few wrong turns we found a sign for the Paradiso cafe and we walked out through the trees to the most perfect beach - pure untouched sand and crystal clear water.

The Island escape collection is ideal for these photos of which I have endless.  By combining the 'bird of paradise and the 'driftwood' paper, I was able to blend my photograph to run top to bottom.  I then cut the 'pink hibiscus paper out and layered up the flowers.  I used whole flowers at the front and then layered up the scraps underneath to give a feeling of depth and also the impression that you were walking through the trees as we did that day.  I finished of using some Theresa Collins letters and thickers ad well as a compass from the wooden elements.

February's Gallery Favourites with Kaisercraft

The Scraplift challenge is well underway - if you haven't joined yet have a browse of the February gallery and then use either the page as an inspiration for yours.  Once you've created it, come and share it in our Facebook group ATDML #Create and you could win a prize.

To give you some inspiration I have picked some of my favourites from the Gallery this month.  First up is Karen's page "Together" I do adore all the die-cuts on this page, the large frame and then the little squares with the larger title across the middle.  Plus Karen adds loads of beautiful details in her embellishments and I am sure several layers of foam pads.

Another beautiful use of a cut file by Ann with a cascade of hearts down the side of the page, backed with different papers and accent gems.  Plus how cute is that photo?

Next up is this beautiful page from Tricia with lots of fussy cut flowers and glossy accents pulling apart to reveal a beautiful beach.

Here is a page that I made using Ubud Dreams, it started with some dry brushed paint and then I cut up lots of the individual square tiles from the Kemala paper, layering some on foam pads, and some smaller square stickers in the middle.

I hope you've enjoyed my tour around the gallery - it is filled with inspiration so do pop in and have a look.

March's Scraplift Challenge

Hello, hello - it's Karen here with the March Scraplift Challenge.

This month I chose Katherine's fabulous page 'Life Was Made For Great Adventure'.  I particularly liked how she had surrounded her photos with the patterned paper hexagons and also thought I would challenge myself by using a little paint on my page.

As you can see I fussy cut lots of flowers to surround my photos but like Katherine used a manufacturer's strip for my title.  I used 4 x 4 square photos instead of 3 x 4 landscape ones and added words on the left of each photo whereas Katherine added hers to the right of only one.

I think that between us we have Katherine's perfect boy page and my page which is more girlie.

As always I am excited to see what you make this month.  The ATDML February gallery can be found on the 'Information' section -  at the right-hand side of the ATDML shop site
