December Virtual Crop Class 2 with Ann

Welcome to your second virtual crop class for December with yours truly.
I have created an adventure themed layouts today using the Bo Bunny detour, travel themed  papers in the kit.

December Virtual Crop Class 1 - with Karen

 Hello, hello and welcome to another virtual crop.  Can it really be December? 

As we are approaching Christmas and are all very busy, I made three very quick and easy layouts using Simple Stories - Sweater Weather.


The first 'Hello Autumn' utalises several elements cut from various papers and was made in under 30 minutes so an extremely quick project.

My next layout took a little longer as it involved gutting card and making a photo mount but should be achievable in a short time frame.

 My third layout is also a simple one and when I saw the chipboard shapes I immediately thought of a photo I had taken, several years ago, of Gracia splashing in a puddle.  At the time I had a thing about taking asymmetric photos but thought that the shapes were perfect for making splashes on my page.  I wanted to use the cute foxes and squirrel, cut from the various papers in the kit, on my page too.

December Virtual Crop Day Challenge

Welcome to another virtual crop day with your ATDML team as as always we kick start the day with a challenge for you.

On December 12th 1881 Harry Warner, one of four brothers who founded Warner Brothers, was born. This American TV/Film Industry giant has been responsible for some of the greatest films of all time, and for a large proportion of some of the highest grossing films of all time including the Batman Dark Knight trilogy and of course the Harry Potter films.

Your challenge today is to use a Warner Bros film title as your inspiration or even title for your scrapbook layout. You can use this link on Wikipedia to source your inspiration, they go back to the early 1900's so plenty of choice!!

Documenting December with the first 7 days....

Here are some of my pages, I have to say having a selphy (or any photo printer for that matter) has revolutionised my ability to keep up with this and helped me not become too overwhelmed by piles of photos and journaled bits and tying them all up to make an album, this way it is just a little bit every few days.  The first page is a 6 by 8" and I treated it a bit like a normal scrapbook page with a photo in one corner (the other side of it will have an introduction page to the album, but I haven't worked out what I want for that part yet.

So our Elf bunji'd in this year and I documented our Advent calendars

For the 2nd, Elfbob was munching biscuits and it was just a regular day for us, so I took everyday photos - I use the album more as a journal for what we do each day in December and who we do it with, as it's fun to look back on, and it's often those small moments you take for granted that you forget about, and are equally nice to be reminded of.

As I wanted some extra journalling I added a half sheet of white cardstock and just decorated it a little bit - I didn't want to cover the 'hello December' card.

Friday and a non-school uniform day as well as Santa visiting our street and the journalling speaks of a Christmas memory when Santa visited before!  I've been trying to use the same red and green washy-tapes on each of the pages to tie it all in.  I use lots of little embellishment clusters using the stickers from Claus and Co to tie it all in, as well as having a little dig in my pile of Christmas stash from past years.

A shopping day, more stickers...and then also a little pocket for some cinema tickets.  Again repeats of the washi tape.

Onto the 6th and another sparkly card that I couldn't cover up!  Lots of journalling and little clusters of embellishments.

So you get day 8 too as I didn't take very many pictures on the 7th....just Elfbob as again it was a routine day!  On the 8th Elfbob made these amazing snowflakes....if you want to have a go at them check out this link there are frozen ones, marvel ones....all sorts and you just print off the template and cut them out - great if you have kids (you will need to it as there is a little craft knife work involved to cut the middle bits)

This is how the rest of my album looks at the moment - just bits of Claus and Co papers (by Simple Stories), as well as some of last years DIY Christmas as they have lots of good base colours.

December Virtual Crop Photo Requirements

Class 1 - Karen

Layout 1 - Two 6 by 4" portrait photos

Layout 2 - One very large photo - mine is 7" wide by 10" tall, but a 7" square or slightly smaller would work.

Layout 3 - One 7 by 5" portrait photo taken at an angel - can be adapted for straight portrait or landscape.  Here is an example.

All 3 pages have an Autumnal theme


Class 2 Ann

4 by 6" portrait photo - the papers are travel/adventure themed.

Class 3 Debbie

Layout 1 - a landscape 4 by 6" photo, but the layout is designed to be able to add a Christmas Day photo for 2015 at a later date.

November DT Projects - A Bit of Pick & Mix

Hello, hello lovely scrappers - can't believe that November has been and gone and we are well into December!

Last month, at the retreat, the DT were given carte blanche to choose our kits for November and I chose papers and stickers from Pink Paislee - Cedar Lane and Bo Bunny - You're Invited and added some Prima Flowers and a Simple Stories 'The Story of Us' ephemera pack.

The Cedar Lane was perfect for some photos we took whilst walking in Jesmond Dene park when we visited Newcastle recently.

 

I then made 'Love Your Selfies' - a title pinched from Mel's retreat class, and 'I Am Grateful' and was pleasently surprised at how the look of this paper range could change by using different coloured background cardstock. 

 

The final page I made using Cedar Lane was a very simple one, utalising the drawing function on my Silhouette and using a 4 x 4 photo that I had lying around on my workspace for ages. 

I knew we were planning on visiting the Durham Lumiere and that there would be plenty of photos (not as many as I had hoped as it absolutely bucketed down with rain to the extent that even with five layers of clothes on I was wet through to my undies! 

I chose the Bo Bunny paper purely with the intention of showcasing my proposed photos. 

 

 One of the papers I chose was this one which has lots of shapes and speech bubbles and this one which has a black and white sun burst.  To make my page 'Cheers' I only needed to add a couple of the shapes and speech bubbles and some card stars and it was finished.  The black of the sun burst was perfect for my journaling. 

 

Next I used the paper range for what it was intended for - documenting birthdays and celebrations and made a page featuring Gracia's 21st birthday cake and card from April 2014.

 

My final page features a photo taken in the summer when Gracia and I went to see the Proclaimers in concert.  They are one of my all time favourite bands and I was so excited to see them.  As the journaling says, they are only the third live act I have ever seen and it's all down to Gracia's influence and her insistence that we go on 'adventures' at every opportunity.

December Photo Prompts

Welcome to the final month of photography prompts for 2015, how did December crawl around so quickly? For me this means plenty of Elf antics in our house as Timmy the Elf returns for more mischief each morning after reporting back to Santa each evening to say if the children have been naughty or nice.. here is a quick snap of him last year making snow angels on the living room floor with his apprentice elf Ted!

So there will be many signs of the festive season around us and that will be the focus of some of our photography prompts this month.
