November colour challenge

Hello everyone, Dolly here again.

There is a definite chill in the air now ladies as the year draws towards its close and thoughts lead to Christmas. But we are not there yet so no Christmas palette just yet.

However I have selected some more muted tones for this month.

I hope the palette inspires you to get scrapping and, if it does, please do share your pages on our facebook page in the gallery here

November Layouts on a rainbow....

Hello everyone, Katherine here with a selection of rainbow pages for you!  Here is where it started, using a beautiful rainbow paper from Cocoa Vanilla's Happiness collection called Good Vibes.  I started using cutting different sized circles from it (using a 6" strip so I could fit it through my die-cut machine!).  Once I had the circles I used my watercolours to try and match the colours and painted strips down the page, adding some flicks of colour.  I then used one of the new Vicki Boutin stencils I picked up at the retreat and added some hexagons.  Next I added my circles and to add a little more interest to some I used a BoBunny circle set of texture stamps.  Final bits were to add some Vicki Boutin mixed media ephemera in co-ordinating colours, and also some of her watercolour stickers which went perfectly!

Obviously I had some circle punched waste left over from the page, so I put it to good use.

I backed the paper with lots of punched strips from white cardstock, then added it to the woodgrain paper from Cocoa Vanilla's Unforgettable collection - love a woodgrain!  Again I used the Vicki Boutin ephemera pack to mix in with my page - these are photos we had in a photo booth at a friend's wedding and I loved the speech bubbles in the ephemera pack as it brought out all the fun!

If you want a really quick and easy rainbow page, then this paper by Pink Fresh called Just a little Lovely.  The ink drips and banner are all done for you.

I added a little texture paste and distress ink, layered up some more ephemera and stuck in some hidden journalling behind the photo....as well as another Vicki Boutin water colour sticker too.

I hope you've enjoyed a quick look at these colourful papers and do share any of your creations over in our Facebook group ATDML # Create.

November Virtual Crop Class by Ann

Afternoon my lovelies.

Virtual crop day for November comes to you with a spooky pair of pages from me so hopefully you have some suitable photos - if not, pop on a daft mask like I did with some friends!

I am sure you will have a great fun with these graphic style pages, the instructions for which can be found here.

Come back at 2pm for our third and final virtual crop class today.

November Virtual Crop Class by Karen

Welcome to my class this morning which I hope you will enjoy as it focuses on using gorgeous
6" x 6" papers which are so versatile.

I have two very different pages for you, but there will be plenty left for you to create at least two additional pages

The papers are American Crafts and they are just beautiful and, along with a really versatile sticker sheet they lend themselves to all sorts of different pages.

This is one of the class examples.

and you will find full instruction here, as always.

I can't wait to see what you make for this class. Come back at midday for Ann's somewhat spooky class!

Autumn outdoors

It's my favourite time of year again and although it's getting chilly (and I hate the cold) there are some of my favourite activities..... and excuses to eat some of my favourite foods.

The Simple stories 'Forever fall' range is full of lovely autumnal tones and cosy prints, perfect for Halloween, bonfire night or winter sunsets. There are also lighter shades for the cool, frosty mornings, outdoor activities and walks.

I started by used ink and bubble wrap to create a smudgy print on the kraft card.  I then cut some black and maroon gingham papers from '3x4 elements' and 'changing leaves' into some obtuse triangles. I wanted to create alternate slices to cut across the page so some are cut 'top left to bottom right' and others are 'top right to bottom left'

I ran a section of the triangle side of 'Get cosy' down the centre of the page to give the effect of rising sparks.  I mixed up the triangles and arranged these on the left and right of the page.  I then cut coloured sections from the striped side of 'Get cosy' so the darker muted shades were at the top and the warmer colours at the top.

Using Nuvo crystal drops I dotted some swirls up the page to act like smoke.  To finish I added some pen detail and some beautiful glittery 'Bewitched' thickers.

For the second layout, I used some of the 'changing leaves' and 'Autumn love' range and mixed it with sections of the 'Little man' paper from Simple stories 'Lil' Dude' range.   I cut a selection of 1", 2" & 3" triangles - I also kept the scrap from one of the largest triangles.    I arranged these across the page leaving a diagonal line running down the centre of the page.  I wanted to give a bumpy rocky appearance and leave space for the title.

I added the scrap triangle section to the bottom right-hand corner of the page and then added the title.
I matted the photo onto the kraft colour side of the 'Autumn love' paper and then onto the gingham side of the 'changing leaves' paper.  I then cut around the squares roughly using diagonals and lines to give a random edge.  To finish I added super shiny chrome thickers, doodle lines and journalling.
