May Colour Challenge

Hello ladies - Dolly here with your monthly colour swatch.

Something a little more dramatic this month - though remember you can use tones of the colours to soften it down if you wish.

The sample page for  the swatch this month was made using Simple Stories Kissing Booth

The colour swatch album is looking a little sad so please, if you do create a page - and we would love you to - add it to the album here

May Virtual Crop Class 3 with Debs

Welcome to this Sunday's afternoon class using the Bloom and Grow range from Simple Story.

Since we are all likely to be feeling full and relaxed after a Sunday roast I thought I'd keep this class pages simple.  So if you fancy a little gentle hand cutting and arranging fantastically coordinated  papers from this range then play along. No complicated techniques to master this afternoon.

Instructions can be found here and please join us on the ATDML # Create Facebook page to share your pages. We'd love to see what you have done,
Wishing you all a gentle scrappy afternoon.

May Virtual Crop Class 2 with Mel

Hello and welcome to class two from todays Virtual Crop. This month I challenged myself to work with the Graphic 45 Flutter collection. Graphic 45 and me are not natural bedfellows, I admire the things other people make with it, I often love a couple of the patterns but I struggle to make it fit with my style. However, I really liked some of the florals in this collection and the bold colours were right up my street so I threw caution to the wind and signed myself up for this kit!

I made three layouts and am really pleased with the outcome. For this class I made a basic sketch and then altered it three ways to get my three layouts.

Click Here for the sketch and full instructions

Here are two of the layouts...

Don't forget to share your creations over on the ATDML # Create Facebook page and join us at 2pm for our final class of the day with Debbie.

May Virtual Crop Class 1 with Katherine

Hello everyone, here is my painty, messy class using distress inks and a large chipboard alphabet.  We will be making 3 pages with the papers from Party Time and Happy by Websters Pages.  Even though Party Time is birthday themed I've made lots of travel pages, so they are pretty adaptable.

In this one we look at layering an inky effects on alphabets as well as a bit of water colour painting to bring the page together.

In this one there is a template to create the sun and clouds - you don't need a silhouette but will need a craft knife or good pair of scissors.

In this page I use the waste from the chipboard alphabet to create a background and pull together all the yellows and greens that are in the papers.

I hope you enjoy creating them.

Virtual Crop Weekend Challenge - Album Covers Edition 5

Welcome to this months Album covers challenge. My album of choice this month is Bowling for Soup Drunk Enough to Dance. I love this album because of the interesting design, because the title speaks to me (I NEVER dance unless I have had a good few drinks first!) And finally because one of my best festival memories is getting right to the front row of the crowd for Bowling for Soup, enjoying a cracking set and then being lifted over the barrier by security to get out afterwards as the next band due on were rubbish!

So here's the cover...

For my layout I used the four vertical elements to include three photos and a journaling box. I did give some thought to adding quirky angles to my photos but in the end decided to offset the position instead.

For my title I added a two line title in different fonts.

As soon as I chose this album I knew which photos I wanted as I had already printed the 5x2 vertical images of Isabelle climbing and jumping off the pillars at Ferry Meadows. However because they were quite small I felt like the whole lot needed to be contained in a smaller space so added the doodled border 3/4" around the edge.

I ended up using very little patterned paper which meant I could use up some scraps from the Studio Calico Yearbook range from several years ago. In my stash I had some of the Bramble Fox perspextives including the sub title pieces as well as the arrows, chevron and camera.

I hope you enjoyed this months album cover challenge, do head over to our Facebook Group ATDML # Create this weekend for the Virtual Crop on Sunday and if you have a go at the Album Challenge do upload your layout to the Album Challenge Gallery.

ATDML Alphabetical challenge J

Another letter for our Alphabetical challenge and who would have thought we have the letter J next eh?!!

And your prompts are as follows:

Pick one or more or all of them to inspire a layout, the purpose after all is to get our photos and memories into albums...and this time you have the perfect excuse for including journaling too (which I am aware I have spelled incorrectly in the above - forgive me!).

My layout tells the story via JOURNALING of our JOURNEY to find the seal statues on the Island of Lobos off the Fuertaventura cost. and My J layout was perfect with this travel collection from Simple Stories too! Available in the shop if you are lucky and they haven't sold out!

May Sketch Challenge

Good morning ladies. Dolly here with the monthly Sketch challenge for ATDML.

I hope lots of you will be inspired by this one which uses just one portrait format 4" x 6" photo.

Here is the sample page for it, made with the gorgeous KaiserCraft Blessing collection.

I used stencils for the Paris words and postmarks but as the sketch shows, splatters, stamping, anything you fancy works just as well and of course, any fancy edge on the right-hand side..It is the sort of page that also lends itself to lots of fussy cutting if that is what you enjoy. Clearly, I do!

I would love to see what you create and there is a gallery for your pages made with any of the sketches HERE

Have fun and I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Happy National Scrapbooking Day with a little bit of Simple Stories Vintage Traveller

Good morning everyone, there is so much inspiration buzzing around the internet today and I wanted to add a little bit more to it with a page that I created using Vintage Traveller from Simple Stories.  It's a beautiful collection with pastel blues and greens, maps, tickets, old posters....it's gorgeous.

I decided to scrap one of my favourite photos of late which is me and my youngest on the water bus heading over to Venice, the colours and papers went perfectly.  I started with my torn strips and layers around the photo, but in my kit I also had the sticker pack for this collection and there are a few sheets of rectangular  stickers, some with sayings, some images - they have the texture of some of the washi stickers that Simple Stories do.  I decided to tear and layer them up behind my photo to create a real mix of patterns and colours - it was great fun to do and I was really pleased with the effect - adding a nice bit of texture without any paint!  The other way I added some texture was with some organza ribbon - it's been in my stash for ages and I added a pleated/stapled band being my photo.  I started off by sticking it very lightly to the page with a tape runner - so the glue wouldn't show and then added staples so the pleats flattened.

I dug out some of my paper clips that co-ordinated - determined to use up some of the little bits in my stash that have been forgotten!

Jill sent me these fantastic travel thickers (Wander) by American Crafts - all black and white sentiments - you will see a few more on my pages in the gallery

I hope you have a fantastic National Scrapbooking Day, do come and share your pages over in our Facebook group ADTML#Create.
