Using Leftovers & Scraplifting a Scraplift

The retreat seems a distant memory but I came back having scrapped a few pages and used lots of my Vicki Boutin Field Notes papers and embellishments - I wanted to make one more layout with some of the leftovers and so I started to think of what layout I could do that used a small amount of several different patterns.

My favourite thing to do when I am stuck in a rut or in need of an idea is to look back through my old albums. I often find there are layouts that remind me about a technique or style I used to use and sometimes there are layouts that I just want to scraplift and update with new products or pictures.

I came across this layout of Isabelles 9th birthday using the Echo Park Take Note collection. This layout was a scraplift I did from one of Ann's 2014 Cybercrop classes (Picadilly - see below and CLICK HERE for instructions)

So I set about making a new updated version using up my Vicki Boutin Field Notes stash! I added a border to this one and drew sketched circles first using the silhouette. Then I punched out the circles from leftover papers. Then to embellish I used a variety of ephemera, stickers and chipboard accents.

It's always satisfying to use up some leftovers and make a layout with them. Do come on over to the ATDML # Create Facebook page and share any layouts you have made with the leftovers from class kits or collection packs.

Up Lifted

Do you ever scrap lift?  I do at times when I want a quick scrap fix and haven't the time to do my usual shuffling of paper and embellishments.

I was spending time at the weekend deleting things from my computer and I came across this layout.  I can't remember where I got the photo from but really liked the simplicity of the design.

So I used the absolutely gorgeous Vintage Bliss range, a piece of black card, a piece of turquoise swiss dot card a pack of Prima e-line flowers and some pearls, a couple of butterfly punches and a title cut with my silhouette (oh how I love that little machine) and I had my version of the layout.  I switched the circles for hearts,

 

   changed the position of the clusters of embellishments and

put the title at the top of the page and added a few more flowers and butterflies

but I think my version is fairly true to the origional.

A layout that I really like made in an hour and my scrapping fix was fixed!

Scrapping your Christmas Day

Do you recall this blog post last month when we mentioned the new October Afternoon winter collection and shared a layout from their design team? Well I loved the page so much I decided to scraplift it and here is my page. The papers are 30% off in the current sale too!


I had cut out many of the elements before Christmas day and popped them in a baggie ready to pull the page together with my chosen photograph. The large 2 and 5 letters I drew by hand onto chipboard, cut out with a sharp blade and then covered in the patterned paper. Inking the edges hid any minor imperfections in the cutting and once backed with snippets of papers from the collection they looked pretty neat.

I think this is a nice idea for other special dates too, maybe a birthday or anniversary too? Why not have a go and share your page with us here on the blog.
