From This To That - August 2015

Hello, Hello lovely ladies (and gents if any follow our blog).

This month only Katherine and I had DT kits as the other DT were busy working on the very successful Cyber Crop.

I had this kit which mainly comprises papers and stickers from Teresa Collins' Collector's Edition (look at all that gorgeous gold and teal) and Katherine had the Glam Factor range.

So I added a couple of sheets of gold A4 card and a few bits from my stash and made 4 cards

and 4 layouts

Why don't you pop on over to the August Gallery to see what magic Katherine has worked on her kit x

A bit of Glam Factor....

Teresa Collins Glam Factor papers are beautiful....and so I dug out one of my favourite photos from our holiday in black and white to go with it.  My background started off with stamping little words in grey ink, then some more stamping (circles in gold) and a little diamond trellis stamp from prima again in gold - you see the stamping more when you get up close.  I then added some gold spritz's and drips, then I use my gold gelato and a little circular dabber you get in the kit too, and I added some silver ones of those as well.....so lots of gold without the papers appearing yet!  I trimmed and layered my photos, using some prima bling and a bark hart as well as lots of the co-ordinating TC stickers.  The last touch was a few sequins.

If you want to find these beautiful papers ....here is the link.

My Girls

Hello, hello

Karen here with a page I made using the absolutely delectable Collector's Edition range by Teresa Collins. Sorry about the photo but it is impossible to do the gorgeous gold shiny paper justice!

For this page I used:-
A piece of teal coloured cardstock,

Frosted Teal

A piece of Collector's Edition Geometric paper

Collector's Edition - Geometric

A piece of Collector's Edition Cards

Collector's Edition Stickers

Collectors Edition - Decorative Stickers

I also used a piece of this paper but a piece of plain white card would also work just as well.

In addition to the above I also used some washie tape, two tags, two blooms and a wooden word and camera from my own stash.

To make the layout trim 1/4 inch from top and one side and randomly cut out some of the gold diamonds from the Geometric paper. Adhere this to the teal card with foam pads Mount a 5 x 7 photo onto a piece of white card (I used foam pads).  Stick a 2 x 12 inch piece of ....../white card across the center of your page.  I put a piece of washie tape the whole width of this at the top and bottom leaving a slight border.  Cut two cricles with diamonds in from your sticker sheet and put the long piece along the middle of the white card/paper on the left and the two remaining ones on the right.  Adhere your photo to the middle right of your page and chose a card from the 'Cards' sheet to put under this at an angle.  I used the capture life sticker overlapping my photo and the scallop border sticker at the bottom of my photo.  Next I used some of the diamonds I had cut from the 'Geometric' paper and used foam pads to randomly adhere these on top of some of the remaining diamonds.

I mounted the 'Favourite Memory' sticker onto the black and white striped pennant and mounted this onto a scrap of paper but you could use a piece from one of the 'Cards'  I then put a strip of washie tape across the middle of each of my tags, stuck a blossom onto the center of these and then my wooden elements.  These were arranged at the bottom right of my layout and I finished it off with a title using black letter stickers.

Class 13 - Tangled with Mel Hand

Hello and welcome to the final class o the weekend. I hope you have all enjoyed the Cybercrop and I am sure you will join me in thanking the ladies on our awesome Design Team for all their hard work designing classes and making challenge examples. Extra special thanks to Ann who takes a big role in co-ordinating a lot of the pre crop organisation such as timetables and challenge setting. Behind the scenes Jill and Helen have been busy packing and posting kits out too!

My last class is inspired by the comparatively recent film Tangled. For those who have not seen it the film is Disney's take on the fairytale of Rapunzel, as with most Disney films it has a catchy soundtrack, fun characters and is visually interesting. One of my favourite scenes involves the two main characters watching hundreds of lanterns being released into the night sky and it was this that inspired my layout.

Click here for the instructions and don't forget to head over to the facebook page for the end of cybercrop chat and to share your layouts in our class and challenge galleries.

Happy scrapping and thanks for joining us for another memorable ATDML Cybercrop!

Class 12 - Finding Nemo with Katherine

I hope you are all enjoying this years crop, here is my final class all about journalling (I have a terrible confession I haven't photographed done the journalling for this page yet! There is lots of room so I am thinking about adding some smaller photos in with the writing too).

The inspiration from Finding Nemo comes in the form of hidden journalling, so all the journalling has a hidden element.  There is a little bit of construction, lots of distressing and also a little embossing powder technique I enjoy too.

I hope you enjoy the class and you can find the instructions here.

Cybercrop Challenge 6 - SONGS FROM DISNEY

Final challenge for the weekend and we might have saved the best to last some of you will think!! During the course of the weekend as we have taken you on a journey through the movies and taken inspiration from them for our layouts...how many times have you started humming along or singing one of the movie songs? Circle of Life (Lion King), Let it go (Frozen), Under the Sea (Little Mermaid)... and so we bring you challenge #6.

*DISNEY MUSIC LYRICS*

Grab a Disney song or lyric from a song and use it for your layout title. Be creative, have fun and most of all SING!!  Mel has illustrated how she rose to this challenge in the layout below with song lyrics from Baby of Mine featured in Dumbo.

As always our Facebook Cybercrop challenge gallery HERE (simply click "Add photos") awaits your creations. We will keep the challenges open until midnight on Friday 21st August and will pick winners over that weekend. Be sure to have uploaded all your entries by this data to be entered.  If you don't have  Facebook account or are uncomfortable in any way uploading and sharing your projects please email them to mel@atripdownmemorylane.co.uk and we will ensure you are still included in the prize draws.

Hope we FIND you back here at 2pm as Katherine is FINDING NEMO up next.

Class 11 - Alice In Wonderland with Karen

Happy Sunday to you - Karen here again.

My final class of the weekend uses papers from Marian Smith Design's - Posh.  They were perfect for my Alice in Wonderland themed classes as they abounded in painted roses and clocks!

My first layout has the same photo in three different sizes to signify the three different sizes Alice grew to in the story.  As luck would have it I had the perfect photo of my daughter enjoying an Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon tea.

The second layout is travel themed to tie in with Alice's adventurous travels.

You can download the instructions for this class here and upload your finished projects here.

Class 10 - Lilo and Stitch by Mel Hand

Good morning and welcome to day 3 of the ATDML Cybercrop!

To start us off today I am sharing a class entitled Lilo and Stitch. This film, set in Hawaii features a little girl and her mischievous alien friend! My layout doesn't include aliens but it does take inspiration from the tropical island colours you associate with Hawaii and for added links it also includes so faux stitching doodles!

I ended up making a third very quick and simple bonus layout for the class so you now have three layouts to get to work on!

Click Here to download the instructions and then be sure to visit our facebook group for chat and to ask questions and hopefully you will also share your layouts rom the classes and challenges in the relevant galleries. Just click on the "Photos" tab at the top o the ATDML # Create facebook page and you will see an album for classes and one for challenges.

Happy scrapping and be back here at 11am for Class 11 which is Alice in Wonderland with Karen.

Cybercrop Challenge 5 - CINDERELLA

It's our last day of the cybercrop but there is no reason to be blue...we still have two challenges and four more FREE classes to share with you before the day is through!

Challenge number 5 is illustrated for you by Karen and is inspired by

*CINDERELLA*

Karen asks us to sew on our pages to represent poor cinders having to repair her own worn out rags. So grab those sewing machines, needles and thread and rise to this challenge - and just think we could have asked you to create a slipper from paper instead of glass!!

As always share your pages in our Cybercrop Challenge gallery HERE - there are prizes!!!

One more challenge to come at midday today but before then a couple more classes with Mel up at 9am with a Lilo & Stitch inspired class following by Karen at 11am as she has fun thanks to Alice in Wonderland. See you then!

Saturday 15 August 2015

Class 9 - 101 Dalmations with Ann

Your last class of the day and I bring you my layout class inspired by 101 Dalmations. The link is the dotty papers that were in the Kaisercraft Mix and Match kit that I chose to design with but you don't need dotty papers to play along.  You can use any patterned papers in your stash (indeed my first page isn't dotty at all) and hopefully the standard 6"x4" photos I am working with in this class will mean you have something printed off you can grab, match to papers and get in your albums!

These should be nice and simple pages for you to pull together, just download the class instructions by clicking on the link HERE. Don't forget to share your projects in our CLASS GALLERY on Facebook - be sure to add your class title and name so we can leave you lovely comments :)

See you back here tomorrow morning at 8am for another challenge from your design team and day three of Disney film inspired classes. Until then night night xx

Class 8 Pirates of the Caribbean with Debs

Are you ready to set sail on your next Disney scrapping adventure?  Then hop aboard the Black Pearl, fill up your glasses and "Drink up me hearties, yoho!" (Jack Sparrow) as we head for a Pirate inspired theme in this class. Pirates are nothing if not loud and bold and so we are going to take our patterned papers and create layouts with bold designs to represent this theme.
Pirates of the Caribbean Mediterranean
NB: in this class it is vitally important that you talk like one of these pillaging sailors, say "Arrrr" and "matey" a lot, replacing yer words "you" with "ye," "my" with "me," and "your" with "yer." And of course, don't forget ye make sure ye slur all yer words together. (Using a slew of creative threats will make it even better.)

It's a very good night I be wishing ye, fair winds and following seas.

Click here for instructions and don't forget to head over to the facebook page for the cybercrop chat and to share your layouts in our class and challenge galleries.

Class 7 - Little Mermaid with Karen

Hello again - Karen here and I hope you have had fun so far.  My class is a double page beach themed layout.  The Kaisercraft Sandy Toes range was perfect to scrap my little mermaid and her merman when they were surfing in Cornwall, but these papers are ideal for any beach photos.

In addition to the layout above I have also made a mini album with the remains of the kit.

I hope you have fun with my class and don't forget the next class with Debbie at 8pm.

Instructions for my class can be found here and you can upload your finished projects here.

Cybercrop Challenge 4 - UP!

Another challenge for you now, number 4 of the weekend, as we ask you to be inspired by the Disney film

*Up*

In this 2009 Disney movie Carl Fredricksen, a 78-year-old balloon salesman, is about to fulfill a lifelong dream. Tying thousands of balloons to his house, he flies away to the South American wilderness.

For our UP inspired challenge we want you to make a card which either features balloons or a house. If you're not a card maker why not see if you can incorporate either on a layout?

Ann has illustrated with a balloon shaker card below.

The Facebook gallery to share your challenge layouts is HERE (simply click on the "Add Photos" button) and we will select a random winner from all entries to win some ATDML goodies.

Next class is at 6pm with Karen who takes inspiration from The Little Mermaid.

Class 6 - Peter Pan with Katherine

Welcome to my first class - which inspired by Peter Pan, and conveniently Kaisercraft have a journal card with a Peter Pan quote on it!

There is a little bit of painting and printing in this as well as tearing and fussy cutting.  The theme of never growing up is what inspired my photo choices, one from the past and a photo of me practising the art of not growing up!

I hope you enjoy it and look forward to seeing all your creations.

Class 5 Tinkerbell with Debs

Hullo and welcome back from the jungle, to continue your ATDML adventure head for the "first star on the right and then straight on till morning" (Peter Pan). This next class is inspired by the colours associated with Disney's infamous "Tinkerbell". The class kit contains the pale pinks and greens of this pretty little fairy with a whole lot of sassy'ness thrown in for good measure.
{Tinker}Belles of the Ball

Remember there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to scrapping, just add your own sprinkle of fairy dust to your pages to personalise and create uniquely magical memory records. Go "do things that are beautiful and magical and... and important." (Tinkerbell)

Click here for instructions and don't forget to head over to the facebook page for the cybercrop chat and to share your layouts in our class and challenge galleries.

Class 4 Jungle Book with Ann

Time for a mini-book class now - well we couldn't not have really with JUNGLE BOOK as the inspiration for this class. For those of you with a kit you will have a small paper mache box into which we will place our mini book but you can use some of the book techniques to add interactive elements to layouts or to make a stand alone mini-book if you don't have the kit. Papers used in the illustrated example are Kaisercraft Heirloom and feature lots of jungle colours and book prints also. See if you can rise to that part of the class challenge if you don't have the kit.

Instructions for this class can be downloaded HERE and will be available long after our weekend cybercrop ends so you can come back to them another time if needed.  We'd love to see your versions of this class (and all of our classes) and have set up a Facebook Cybercrop classes gallery for you to share your creations and see others images also.

After lunch our Debbie is up (1pm) with her Tinkerbell inspired class.

Class 3 - Frozen with Mel Hand

Good morning Cyber Croppers! I am excited to share with you my first class of the Cyber Crop weekemd and it's inspired by the film Frozen. Try as you might you are going to have a hard time not humming a little "Let it go" or "Do you wanna build a snowman?" as you scrap!

Don't worry, you don't *need* winter or Frozen themed photos (although these will work nicely) but the colour palette of cool turquoise shades (with a dash of hot pink for an accent) just screams Frozen!

The class also features a second page using the remainder of the supplies in the kit.

Download the class instructions by clicking on the link HERE. Don't forget to share your projects in our CLASS GALLERY on Facebook - be sure to add your class title and name so we can leave you lovely comments :)

Be sure to come back at 11am and join the lovely Ann for some Jungle Book fun!

In the meantime happy scrapping!

Cybercrop Challenge 3 - WALL-E

Good morning crafters and welcome to day 2 of our Disney inspired cybercrop and we kick-start our day with our third challenge for you to rise to.

*WALL-E*

This challenge involves you needing to incorporate bricks or brickwork on your project and Katherine has illustrated this on her PGL layout below.

Who really wants to have a go with this messy brickwork technique? Or maybe use a brickwork stencils to do some embossing or even stamping brickwork on your page. Another way you could approach this challenge is by choosing to cut different papers into brick sizes to form your background - the possibilities are endless. Have fun, get creative with this one and as always share your challenge outputs in our Facebook Cybercrop Challenge gallery simply click on the "Add Photos" button to share and be in with a chance to win won of our prizes which will be randomly draw from all entries.

Your next class is at 9am which is inspired by Frozen and brought to you by our Mel. See you then!

Friday 14 August 2015

Cybercrop Challenge 2 - DUMBO

We are closing day one of our cybercrop with our second challenge.

*DUMBO*

For this challenge use our sketch challenge below to inspire your layout or card and make sure it includes a bow for Dum"bow"!!

Karen has illustrated this with a layout that even features an elephant photo and title! Above and beyond the challenge requirements!!

We look forward to seeing your (ele)phant-astic creations! and don't forget to share them with us in our Facebook Challenge gallery HERE (Simply click on the hyperlink then select "Add Photos") to share and be in with a chance of winning one of our challenge prizes.

Have fun and we will see you back here tomorrow morning at 8am with challenge number 3 and then your next class will be inspired by Frozen with Mel at 9am.
