Around the World in 80 Hours - Challenge 12 - IRELAND

IRELAND

Just before we return to London to conclude our Around thw World virtual trip we've just time to stop off in Ireland to feast our eyes on the amazing Giants Causeway.

Declared a world heritatge site in 1986 much of the Giant's Causeway is owned and managed by the National Trust. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Northern Ireland  and the area is about  40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic eruption. Most of these columns are hexagonal but there are a number with 4,5, 7 and 8 sides as well.

We are going to stick with the 6 sides to inspire Challenge 12 and ask you to create a page featuring hexagons like the Causeway.

Katherine has a lovely example here for you and we can't wait to see yours.
That is the last challenge of the weekend after which we return to London later this evening to conclude our trip and stand back and admire our creations. Don't forget your passport too - did you track your weekend as you went along?

Going all the way with the Irish is our Jane

A huge thank you for being with us on our Trip Around the World and we will see you soon!

Around the World in 80 Hours - Challenge 11 - ICELAND

ICELAND

Well who knew that Greenland was 20 times the size of Iceland? Well we at ATDML now do thanks to our research for your cybercrop this weekend and Iceland is our next stop for Challenge 11.

Here we want to see your teeny tiny embellishments (for teeny tiny Iceland) on a wintery/cool  coloured or wintery photo page.  Dig out those sequins and brads and enamel dots and get scrapping cool style for this challenge!

By Karen

A couple of example layouts above from your DT to inspire and we will see you at 9pm for your final challenge and final destination on our Around the World in 80 hours trip with ATDML.

Around the World in 80 Hours - Challenge 10 - GREENLAND

GREENLAND

We leave the lovely Vicki Boutin and Onatario, Canada behind as we head via the Hudson Bay to the Atlantic Ocean onto Greenland for challenge number 10 this cybercrop weekend.

After a little research turns out theres not much in Greenland though it is the world's largest island, located between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans.

So for Challenge 10 we want to see your white space layouts with not much there! Harder than it sounds if you ask me but our DT have once again come up trumps sharing some inspiration with you.

AROUND THE WORLD CYBERCROP CLASS 11 - NEW YORK WITH TRICIA

Good afternoon Campers

New York is one of my favourite cities in the world, it's the place I keep returning to time and time again.
More than anything, I love being out on the streets and could walk all day round the city just people watching.  The added bonus to this is the street art which is everywhere, large building sized pieces to the tiny pasteups typical of the city.

In this class I'll be using Simple stories 'Reset girl' to replicate the elements of New York that I love - the gritty street art, the urban colours, the skyline and the city studded with little urban parks to chill out (a bit like Edinburgh)

In the second layout I wanted to replicated the reflectiveness of the skyscrapers that bounce the light and reflections back and forward against each other like mirrors.

In the third layout I was inspired by the Highline, a long rail track space saved by the people of New York to create a park.  All along the space is ever changing art work, hidden spaces to hang out and some beautiful gardens.  It's one of my favourite places in the city and I have lost a day just hanging out there before.

So grab your kit and click here to join me for a wander through the city, don't forget that you can add all your layouts from this class to our facebook album so we can see what you have been up to.

Stick around for the next class with Debs where she'll be taking us to Canada with Vicki Boutin.
enjoy your flight!!

Around the World in 80 Hours - Challenge 9 - FLORIDA

FLORIDA

Well now we arrive at our penultimate stop in USA, the Sunshine State of Florida for Challenge 9.

Home of Disney Theme Parks you can chose to scrap your theme parks or adventure parks or Disney photos for this challenge - or be inspired by the Sunshine state to have rays of sun on your layout.

A couple of challenge examples below from your DT to inspire you but we have a feeling this will be a popular challenge for certain ATDML ladies!

Your last stop in USA is New York and class 11 with Tricia next at 2pm.

Around the World in 80 Days - Class 10 - Texas with Karen

Hello again everyone. We are travelling at quite a pace around the world this weekend and now we have already reached Texas. It is no secret that the USA is close to my heart and Texas is such a great state, known for s many things from the soap opera Dallas to its oil, its steaks, the Alamo, and for its lone star standing. And of course, everything in Texas is BIG. And I mean HUGE. Texans pride themselves on it. Texas has the largest drum, Big Bertha, The largest working fire hydrant in the world (donated by the Walt Disney company) the world's largest Road Runner statue, the largest pair of cowboy boots in the world and, on Route 66, the Big Texan steakhouse serving the biggest steaks.

So, I am sure you have spotted the theme for this class - it's BIG.

There are three class pages, using the gorgeous Paige Evans Wonder papers and featuring something BIG on each one. This is just one of the pages you will find in the instructions.

You can find all the class instructions here and I hope that you will share your comments and pages over on our facebook group.

Enjoy 'going large' in this unique state before we move on to Florida for another challenge.

Around the World in 80 Days - Class 9 - San Francisco with Ann

Alas we leave vibrant Mexico behind as we travel on to San Francisco, home of the Golden Gate Suspension Bridge and Alcatraz. This was the final stop on my honeymoon back in 2003 and I am still in awe of the reality that is the Golden Gate Bridge. My layouts today are inspired by the bridge with design like a bridge going from one side of the page to the other.

Download the instructions for the pages I made using the super fun and vibrant Amy Tan Brave and Bold papers. I look forward to seeing your pages inspired either by mine, the bridge or something else from San Francisco.

Our next stop is huge...it's Texas with Karen at noon - see you then.

AROUND THE WORLD CYBERCROP CLASS 8 - MEXICO WITH TRICIA

Good evening Campers

Welcome to class 8 of the Around the World cyber crop.
In this class I'll be taking inspiration from Mexico, a place that is next on my list to visit!  I'll be taking inspiration from traditional Mexican tiles,  strung street lights, sweets, sunsets and piñatas.

I'll be using the Pinkfresh 'Keeping it real' range which does not only include a brilliant range of beautiful colours but words and sayings which are a perfect accompaniment to photos taken during lockdown.

There will be a little bit of fussy cutting in this class but I couldn't resist all the little details of the 'Daily grind' paper. So grab your scissors and your kit and click here to get the class instructions.

We have created albums for you to share your layouts from this class over on Facebook and I can't wait to see what you all come up with.  We are back tomorrow so don't forget to head back in the morning to join Ann for her San Francisco inspired class

Around the World in 80 Hours - Challenge 8 - PERU

PERU AND THE RAINFOREST

We leave Hawaii behind and bid it farewell as we head to our next destination Peru - a megadiverse country with habitats ranging from the arid plains of the Pacific coastal region in the west to the peaks of the Andes mountains extending from the north to the southeast of the country to the tropical Amazon Basin rainforest in the east with the Amazon river.

As you might therefore imagine challenge 8 is inspired by the rain forest where we want to see all the green and all the foliage on your challenge layout.

The DT have shared a couple of examples to inspire you below.

By Jane

By Karen

Enjoy your stop in Peru as it is a brief one before we head next to vibrant Mexico with Class 8 lead by Tricia at 9pm tonight.

Around The World In 80 Hours Class 7 with Mel - HAWAII

Hot on the heels of my last class we have taken a 9 and a half hour flight over the Pacific to Hawaii! This destination was an easy choice with the tropical florals featured in the Kaisercraft Sunkissed Collection.

My first layout for the class is here

You can see the second layout and download full instructions here,

Do join us at 9pm when Tricia will be taking us to Mexico, home of pinatas, hot spicy colours and fabulous food!

In the meantime come on over to the ATDML # Create Facebook page and join in with the chat, challenges and scrappy fun.

Around The World In 80 Hours Class 6 with Mel NEW ZEALAND

Hi Everyone, welcome to New Zealand! Well really we are focusing on the New aspect as my class uses the brand new Reaching out collection from Jen Hadfield. I like that there are enough topical elements (rainbows, houses, phones etc... without it being restrictive in it's theming.

My first layout for this class is here

To see the other layout and download full instructions click here.

Don't forget to join us throughout the weekend on the ATDML # Create Facebook page, we love seeing what you have been up to and of course as well as the classes there are lots and lots of challenges.

Come back at 6pm for my second class of the weekend in glorious Hawaii!

Around the World in 80 Hours - Challenge 7 - AUSTRALIA

LEAVE INDIA FOR AUSTRALIA

After a fleeting visit to India we leave and arrive in Australia for our 7th Challenge.
On February 12, 1851, flecks of gold were discovered in a waterhole near Bathurst, New South Wales ,Australia and soon after even more gold was discovered in what would become the neighboring state of Victoria. This began the Australian Gold Rush and so for this challenge we want you to use GOLD on your layouts. You can choose from gold spray ink, gold stamping, gold embossing, gold pen doodles, gold embellishements such as brads...well the list goes on.

Gold embossing example by Jane

As always we'd love to see you share your layouts in our Facebook group and look forward to seeing what you have all made before we leave Australia to head to New Zealand for Class 6 with Mel  at 4pm this afternoon.

Around the World in 80 Days - Class 5 - Boat to India with Jane

All aboard! We're leaving Madagascar and heading for one of my favourite destinations in the world - India. But as we are constantly reminded - it's about the journey, not the destination so this class is about the sea and boats rather than India!

If you got a kit you will be able to replicate my book with its galleon front cover. If not, you can take the idea of making a book front cover with an aperture and fill it with die cuts (or hand cut designs) to make a scene. Or let it inspire you to create flowers and ribbons from scraps of fabric. The book also features pages with pockets and tags and some which are full size photos.

Whatever inspiration you take from this I hope you enjoy the class, instructions for which can be found on the Created By ATDML Facebook Page.

We are almost halfway in our round the world trip - next we will be leaving India and heading for Australia - join us at 2pm for another challenge!

Around the World in 80 Days - Class 4 - Madagascar with Karen

Well hello my fellow travellers. Dolly here.

I hope you are enjoying your travels around the world and having fun visiting all of the different destinations.

We find ourselves now in Madagascar. It is the world's 4th largest island and is surrounded by lots of smaller islands too. And just like the film it is a haven for so much wildlife.

Our focus for our stay in Madagascar is going to be wildlife of all sorts - animals, birds, butterflies - you name it - and also we are going to look at something moving on the page, inspired by the song from the film, and so there will be an interactive element to one of the class pages.

I am sure you will enjoy your stay on this wonderful island and have fun creating with the gorgeous Simple Stories Vintage Cottage Fields collection.

There are three pages int he class and this is just one of them.

You can find the full instructions here and I hope you will share your comments and your pages in our facebook group.

Have fun on the wonderful island of Madagascar. Next we take a boat to India with Jane at Noon.

Around the World in 80 Days - Class 3 - Egypt with Ann

Well good morning scrappers and welcome to Egypt. I trust your journey from Istanbul overnight has been a pleasant one? You are joining me now for my first class of the weekend and inspired by the Pyramids of Egypt its going to be all about the triangles.

It doesn't matter if you managed to get a kit (I will be using Pink Fresh Studio Let's Stay Home) you can still join in with your own papers and create a triangle inspired page or scraplift one of my designs.

The class instructions can be found here and I hope you have all the fun with our Egytian prompts before we "move it, move it" onto Madagascar with Karen at 10:30.

Around the World in 80 Hours - Challenge 6 - INSTANBUL, TURKEY

ISTANBUL, TURKEY

Istanbul is our next stop and inspiration for the 6th Challenge. Formely the capital of Turkey Instabul means "city" and is a vastly popular tourist destinaion. To the west of Istanbul, between the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea, lie diverse landscapes of forest, farms, marshes and ancient settlements often full of beautiful mosaics. The Great Palace Mosaic Museum, is located close to Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul, and  houses mosaics from the Byzantine period, unearthed at the site of the Great Palace of Constantinople

Your challenge number 6 therefore is to either use Black cardstock as your background for a layout - or feature a mosaic design on your page.

The design team have illustrated this prompt below which you can scraplift or make your own page inspired by the prompts.

That's it for tonight and we will see you again  in the morning when we arrive in Egypt, North Africa for Class 3 with Ann. Sleep tight virtual travellers.

Around the world in 80 hours - Class 2 Athens, Greece, with Tracy

Hi everyone, it's time for your second class in your trip around the world!  I hope you are all getting that mojo flowing with the challenges and Katherines class so far.

I had the pleasure of working with Pink Fresh, Some Days which not only has some lovely pastel pinks with some bold blues and yellows, but the ephemera pack has so many different sentiments and icons in that you can make these pages work for almost any occassion.

I loved all the coffee references in the papers and the ephemera, obviously, so my first page had to be my 40th Birthday celebration with Ann and Sarah. Not quite what we had planned at the beginning of the year but the Starbucks drive through and some strategic parking meant we were able to have a socially distant coffee together (Ann and I have been in a bubble for the duration).

With distressing being my prompt, and having embraced fussy cutting during the first lock down, I decided my second page had to include a significant amount of ripping up paper with abandon and delicately cutting flowers out!  Apologies for the picture subject... it was go yellow day and we had to take a crazy selfie!

I hope you enjoy the pages, I'll be lurking around in the facebook group if anyone has any questions.

Around the World in 80 Hours - Challenge 5 - ITALY

ITALY

Moving on from France to Italy we arrive at the home of some of the best food in the world
Whilst I was in Venice 2 years ago I had the most amazing seafood linguine that I wish I was able to create tasting half as good! Anyway, I digress, the challenge 5 is however based on a very popular Italian meal - The Pizza where we challenge you to make a layout with a pizza wedges design, or maybe one featuring a pizza photo!

By Karen

By Ann

Share your layouts in our ATDML gallery over on Facebook in our challenge 5 album to be in with a chance of winning a special little something from us and we will see you back here for Class 2 with Tracy when we arrive in Greece.

Around the World in 80 Days - Class 1 - Arriving in Paris, France with Katherine

Hello everyone, welcome to the first class of our Around the World in 80 hours cybercrop.  Hopefully you have discovered challenges 1 to 4, if not check out the earlier posts.  Make sure you join us in our Facebook group ATDML#Create and share your pages in the albums.

For this class we are using the Simple Stories Quarantined papers and as Paris is the home of many wonderful artists your challenge in this class is to step outside your comfort zone and get a little messy.  There are 3 pages, one of which is covered in inkiness but the other 2 are cleaner, so there is something for everyone to enjoy.  The papers will work perfectly with all your 'stay at home' pictures, so dig them out before we get further afield.

Delight in the mess of distress inks and watercolour.

Move onto some careful cutting and layering.

Focus on the journey and journal all the details in my easiest page ever!

I hope you enjoy them, be back at 6pm ready for an Italian challenge.
